Animal
Abuse in India
~by Priya Jyoti

Animal abuse, animal
slaughter, animal cruelty, etc. are different names which are for the inhuman
behaviour shown to animals by heartless human beings. How human beings have lost their mercy and ethics to treat others is hard to believe in today's world.
Yesterday, while crossing
a road, I saw a truck carrying several buffaloes. It seemed that they were
forcefully stuck in that small enclosed box.
Bound with chains, living like a slave, and doing
activities forcefully are such things

which have brought people into the fire of
curse resulting in unimaginable changes around us. They can't speak but their
eyes tell every misery they undergo. Just to entertain people and earn money,
humanity has vanished from this world.
Everyone is aware of the pregnant elephant's death in
Kerala. It has sparked nationwide outrage. She ate a pineapple that was given
by a few people living there. The fruit was laden with crackers and she chewed
it. The cracker exploded in her mouth and she died with her little one inside
her womb. I still get goosebumps when I think about incidents like this.
Another question which
comes to my mind is how can someone love their child so much and eat another
child. Innocent faces of baby animals always ask only one question, "I am
not roast dinner, I am someone's baby. How can you eat me?"
Do they come to this world for someone's special
dinner or special cuisine?

Everyone goes to watch circus shows and enjoys their
time but do we even realise how those animals are being trained to entertain
us? Their life depends on the person who is their trainer. We can't imagine the
tortures through which they go while training. They live like a slave without
any reason.
On every corner around our locality, we see posters or
hoardings with a message on animal abuse. Many of us feel the words and the
pictures with full emotions but 8 out of 10 people forget about the same within
a few minutes. This happens and hardly anyone is paying attention toward the enhancement of cruelty on animals by humans.
Why humanity has lost its principles???
20 out of 28 states in
India currently have various laws regulating the activities of a slaughtered
cow, prohibiting the slaughter or sale of cows.
Kerala, Manipur, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura,
Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and West Bengal are the well known states
where there are no prohibitions or restrictions on cow slaughter.
Kerala holds a beef festival. Is it a festival where
lives are taken away from innocents?
While scrolling my social media account I stopped my
finger on this post in the past. To get fame and followers he has put someone's
life in danger. For money and entertainment, animals' lives are at risk.
Thousands of cases of animal abuse can be seen around us but hardly anyone
takes action. If any of those cases do not put fire on the internet, cruelty
towards animals continues. We share our community with each living organism and
we should respect this. Animal love is not only about loving dogs but
respecting other creatures too. We can raise our voices against any such case
around us. With each step, we can climb mountains and give them an equal share
in the community. They deserve justice for everything happening to them which
should not happen at all.
