It takes so much courage and dedication to play such roles, and Sushmita Sain again receives huge applause for her recently released 'Taali' in which she portrays Shree Gauri Sawant, a transwoman activist. Created by Arjun Singh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar, this series has six episodes, and each one tells the story of Gauri and gives a strong message and lesson to the people who live among transgender people but never try to accept them as respectful and equal community. The series is based on the true story of Shree Gauri Sawant and her struggles to find her identity and fight not only with society but with her inner self, family, and her own transgender community. After seven decades of independence, the third gender got their freedom after fighting a long war with the law and society.

The series starts with the wait for the final hearing of the petition submitted before the Supreme Court of India by Guri to get equality for transgender people. Sushmita, as Gauri, is seen giving an interview to a foreign journalist, and then the whole story goes into the past, where she recalls all the incidents of her childhood. Gauri was initially Ganesh, the son of a policeman, but his father never accepts him or his reality and tries to change him into a man. Ganesh wants to live with his reality, so he leaves home and goes to Mumbai, where he starts his journey. From earning a few rupees a day to becoming one of the most prominent activists in India, Gauri Swant’s journey was not easy. From mental to physical traumas, she goes through it all alone and leads her transgender community. The series highlights how the position holders come in her way, and she confronts them with her determination and courage. She becomes idle for all the transgender people and adopts children who have no family.

When Sushmita comes on screen as Gauri Swant, it seems that she understood the assignment, and from head to toe, she gave her career one of the best performances. Whether it’s the body language, makeup, look, or the way a transgender person speaks, Sushmita has owned the role so gracefully.

Kudos to the whole team who dug out a much-needed and inspiring story and presented it in front of people with powerful dialogues like 'Maa Hona Koi Gender Nahi, Feeling Hai'. This series is about the emotions of so many transgender people and the reality of a society that denies accepting them. The series highlights the acceptance, equality, education, and employment of the third gender and how a petition before the Supreme Court took the first step towards changing their lives. This is a story of awareness, equality, and acceptance of the third gender that people must watch.
